Clash of Clans Beginners Guide and tips

A guide for Clash of Clans (COC) new players:

Clash of Clans (COC), is the most popular mobile game, after eight years since its release in 2012, it still attracts more players day by day. You can Play COC on both iOS and Android devices. It is free to download from both Google Play and Apple App Store. Clash of Clans being simple and extremely fun to play, will suck you in and never let go. In this Clash of Clans beginners Guide, we try to introduce you to important staffs in the game.

Types of Sources in Clash of Clans

In the game there are five types of resources Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir, League Medals and Gems.

  • Gold: Acquired from Gold Mines and Attacking other players and will store in the Gold Storage. It’s used mostly for upgrading defenses, Walls, and Elixir Buildings.

  • Elixir: You get Elixir from Elixir Collectors or Attacking other players and will store in the Elixir Storage. Used mostly to recruit Elixir troops, for researches in Laboratory and for upgrading other buildings like Barracks, Army Camps and Gold Buildings,

  • Dark Elixir: You can earn it by Dark Elixir Drill or Attacking other players. Heroes and some troops will be upgraded by using Dark Elixir.

  • League Medals: Medals are precious tokens that you earn from Clan War Leagues. If your Clan Leader enrolls you to Clan War Leagues, you can receive League Medals at the end.
  • Gems: Gems is like a premium currency in Clash of Clans,  you may receive Gems by completing achievements, Cutting Trees and removing obstacles or buying by real money.

Vital Tip:

We recommended you to use Gems only to get Builders, and after you have 5 of them, you may want to buy a Training Potion from time to time. So do not use them on Buildings or to buy Gold, Elixir or Dark Elixir.

Day one:

When you first start playing Clash of Clans they offer a tutorial to help introduce you to aspects of the video game. The tutorial is useful, but you don’t need to spend the resources it recommends to speed up construction, or an army of wizards to defeat the goblins.

Wait for construction to finish on its own and the base to accumulate resources. Also, place two wizards next to the cannon, and you’ll be fine. Wizards are powerful, but need support because they don’t take much damage.

Day two:

During the first three days of playing, No one can attack your base so you are safe, unless you attack another player.

After this period, the Shield continues if a player’s base is successfully raided, or they buy another one with gems (Don’t Waste your gems here!). The length of time a Shield is effective depends on the amount of damage done during the raid and the buildings attacked.

Upgrade Elixir Collectors and Gold mines as soon as possible and then upgrade Gold storage and Elixir Storage too. At last upgrade your Town Hall for defense.

Once you reach Town Hall Level 4, first construct air defenses, and then upgrade Mortar, Archer Tower, and Cannon.

Don’t build second resource storage facilities until after the first seven days. After this, construct as many as possible to maximize storage capacity.

Day three:

Follow the steps below:

  • Build the Clan Castle and locate it in central of your village.
  • Build up base defenses. Put walls around the Town Hall and resource storage facilities.
  • Locate the Town Hall and storage facilities near the center of your base. This will allow you to surround these buildings with less important structures to slow attacks.
  • Upgrade walls to at least level two.
  • Layer defenses by surrounding buildings, and then larger groups of buildings with walls, with traps at locations you think the enemy will attack.
  • Buy a mortar and put it near the center of your base behind walls. Make sure it covers all important buildings.
  • Build Archer Towers and Cannons, and place them in range of important structures.
  • Archer Towers are best on the perimeter of a base due to their good range.
  • Cannons can’t target air units, so make sure they’re protected from air enemy troops.
  • Keep upgrading defenses until you reach the highest level possible.
  • Upgrade your Town Hall to level 5.

Clash of Clans War Strategy:

Once the first three days are over, you can begin thinking about conducting offensive operations. You need to develop a Clash of Clans war strategy.

You also need to find elixir and gold and earn trophies by attacking other player on the battlefield to continue the fight and win.

Training First Clash of Clans Army:

At this point, we suggest the beginning player build a simple army, which will be easier to control.

Barbarians are a good choice for a first Clash of Clans army. This force will destroy a base without a good defensive setup.

As tier 1 troops, barbarians have relatively low hit points and don’t do much damage, but they’ll do the job. They swarm the enemy and overwhelm the defenses.

Choose the suitable base to attack:

Once you build your barbarian army you need to find the right base to attack.

After you send the first army to attack the enemy, begin training troops in the barracks. They will be ready when the attack is over.

Generally, players with under 500 trophies can worry less about being attacked. Once you gain enough, attacks become more frequent.

A larger number of trophies also means a tougher opponent is selected during the matchmaking process.

Look for a base with badly place walls or an exposed Town Hall or mortar to attack. Also, try to find a base with good resources and trophies you can exploit to continue the momentum you build.

Beginners Attack Strategy:

We suggest new players keep making a simple Attack Strategy for themselves. First Try to Destroy the enemy mortar as soon as possible. The mortar has a blind spot barbarian can exploit it can’t cover. Find this blind spot, take out the mortar, and your barbarians can take out the rest of the defenders.

When you place a unit it will move automatically and you can’t control it anymore. So place them near the target. Each unit also has one unit it prefers to attack, but often it will attack the nearest enemy.

You Should not to deploy all of your troops at once.

The exact point of deployment is really important. If you drop your Archers a little closer to, for example, a Barrack, they will attack the closest building instead of the one you wanted them to attack.

Once the battle is over, you don’t get units back and you need to train new troops.

Tip:

Different troops will focus on different structures check below:

The Nearest building: Barbarians, Archers

defenses: for example, Giants, Bats or Hog Riders,

resources: Goblins,

Walls: Wall Breakers.

Joining a Clan in Clash of Clans:

After rebuilding the Clan Castle, the next step in developing a powerful base is to join a clan. By joining a clan players have the ability to request troops from other members.

Finds a clan that is open to newer players. However, it is difficult to join clans at lower levels. This is due to the responsibility that clan members hold, such as providing troops and winning invasions.

The clan a new player join is directly connected to his success in developing a powerful base. It is incredibly important that no matter the clan joined, that it is one that provides high-level troops.
When you join a Clan you will see three different events related to the Clan, Clan Games, Clan War and Clan War League. With these events you can earn War Starts, League Medals and Loots to upgrade your village faster.

In this article we gave some essential tips and guides for the first few days of new players. In the next articles we will talk more about the benefits of joining a clan and clan’s events. However, we talked about Clan War and Clan War leagues before you can read it.
